Hello!
My name is Kirsten Lankford, and I teach piano and voice in the Ringgold area. I have been singing and dancing since before I can remember. I enjoyed growing up in a musical household with my mother as my first teacher. Music has made me smarter, developed a community around me, and brought joy into my life. I love to share this passion with others, and I am excited to teach the different aspects that go into music and help people develop the skills needed for singing.
My vocal training began in various choirs; this is also where I first began to learn music theory and sight-singing. I began voice lessons in middle school and participated in many solo and ensemble events. As a music major in college, I took advantage of many opportunities to perform in operas and musical theater. I was also able to take classes in music theory/aural skills, diction, music history, conducting, and pedagogy.
I took piano lessons throughout my childhood and a couple of semesters in college. I continue to work on my piano skills even now. I am classically trained, but I also have experience playing piano in worship band.
Throughout college, I tutored other students in music theory and aural skills, and I taught voice lessons as a part of my vocal pedagogy class. I have also been trained in Level I of Kodaly and intend to train in all three levels.
I would love to help you learn to bring out the best in your beautiful, God-given voice and musicality! I believe music unifies, entertains, and comforts.
